The newest designer for Blow Presents has finally come into are lives and showroom!
Italian born designer Claudia Ligari graduated from Instituto Marangoni in Milan in 2004, and also completed work experience with brands such as Missoni and Alexander McQueen.
She launched her first label and collection in A/W 2009/10
Her creations are boldly exposing, surprising yet sensual areas of flesh. Garments, seemingly, transforming when viewed from different angles.
Simple, sheer, lightweight crepes and hammered silks combine with strong impact materials such as leather and pvc, imposing forms that hide the figure but still keeping the silhouette accessible throughout.
As a starting point for her spring/summer 2011 collection, Claudia Ligari took her inspiration from influential Italian minimalist, Lucio Fontana. Recalling the hidden beauty revealed by a simple cut into canvas; the dislocated and hanging strips of leather, recurrent throughout the collection, boldly expose surprising yet sensual areas of flesh. Culminating in an, almost, skeletal cage enclosing the figure.
Persistently confounding, the garments and materials in this collection refuse to conform. Trousers, seemingly, transforming into skirts when viewed from the side. Simple, sheer, lightweight crepes and hammered silks combine with leather imposing forms like 1920s silhouettes re-imagined on the set of Ridley Scott’s, ‘Bladerunner’.
A triumph of darkness with nude accents, a look that is as minimal as it is resolutely individual
Have Look at the Collection that can be viewed at the Showroom aswell.
