To tie in with the Rudeboy exhibition at Somerset House, we thought we’d play this vintage Rhianna
This summer, Somerset House is hosting the “Return of the Rudeboy,” an original exhibition curated by photographer and filmmaker Dean Chalkley and creative director Harris Elliott. Over the course of the past year the duo photographed over 60 sharply dressed individuals from across the UK, all of whom embody the essence of what it is to be a Rudeboy in the 21st century. The exhibition will be an immersive experience taking visitors into the worlds of today’s Rudeboys, showcasing the sartorial subculture through a series of portraits, installations and set pieces.
Photographs and set pieces will be on sale along with bespoke hand-bound books featuring the images on show in the exhibition. Clothing and accessories inspired by Rudeboys will also be available.
The show runs from 13 June to 25 August 2014 and admission is free

In a show dedicated to the late college professor Louise Wilson, forty students from Central Saint Martins’s BA fashion course presented their designs to top industry players.
From floppy hats to potato sacks the catwalk saw it all! However the award for the year went to 23 year old Gracie Wales-Bonner, whose designs fused 70s Nigerian street style with European glamour. With just a few inevitable trends throughout the show, this year’s event saw some great and wearable pieces.
The graduate collections continue this week while Graduate Fashion Week kicks off this weekend.
Last week Thursday on the 22nd of May STRIKE highlighted the emerging works of 16 – 25 year olds across London. Our very own Justin Smith, or JSmithEsquire, has been announced as the designer behind Angelina Jolie’s leather-wrapped horns in Disney’s Maleficent. His strong design beautifully defines the character’s devilish and defiant nature. As well as producing an iconic headpiece, it appears Justin has secured a fan in Angelina, as she’s cited in Vogue stating “Justin Smith is an amazing artist”. Can’t wait to see the film now!
