Selfridges have been supporting young creative talent for quite some time with their “Bright Young Things” scheme. For 2015, they turned it upside down and decided to celebrate “Bright Old Things” with the winners all aged from mid-40’s to mid-80’s. We are very happy to announce that one of the recipients is no other than Robert Roope, designer and founder of BLACK EYEWEAR (he’s the one with the green bow tie). Watch out in January when all of the recipients will have their own dedicated shop window at Selfridges!
As part of Selfridges’s Festival of Imagination taking place from Thursday until March 2nd, designer Gareth Pugh has created a multi-sensory booth – part Star Trek, part Tardis, part Pet Shop Boys video. The Monolith, as it is called, will offer shoppers a futuristic 3 D experience where everything collapses around you and the surrounding sounds of the shopping mecca disappear. Sounds fabulous!
Get there early and expect queues as only one person at a time can enter! It’s open until January 31st
Hong Kong retail giant I.T is bringing some of its coolest brands to Selfridges for what will be the store’s biggest ever fashion pop up, with stufff from Izzue, Aape, Fingercroxx and B+AB.
But our favourite is definitely Mini Cream (pictured) offering the kookiest fashionistas the cutest cartoonesque outfits!
All available until October 7th
Well not quite, but Fred Butler’s outfits do have a slight resemblance to something that the Lady of pop would have once worn. The reason for Fred Butler dressing the most famous toy in history is ahead of her moving into her new home on the fourth floor of Selfridges later this week. The ‘star’ has also been dressed by Nasir Mazhar and Sister by Sibling for the launch. As well as displaying 3 dolls, each wearing a different designers design, the space will also be home to other toys and give fans the chance to buy collector’s dolls launched throughout Barbie history.
Louis Vuitton are opening an exclusive footwear boutique in Selfridges next week. It will be in the London Shoe Hall and will featuring a specially curated section of shoes, including an exclusive shoe – the Pump London – of which only 24 pairs have been made!
The Louis Vuitton Salon will open to the public on July 15.
Selfridges Concept Store has a new featured tenant come Thursday. David Bowie will be the new focus of the pop-up store coinciding with the current exhibition at the V&A. Not doing too bad Bowie! The store will sell various products to celebrate the star and are even teaming up with illamasqua to offer shoppers the Bowie makeover. We were thinking a lightening bolt, think we can pull it off? Maybe not, but we will still be there to see who is brave enough.
