From tomorrow until April 2015 at the Design Museum there will be an exhibition looking into the wardrobes of 25 exceptional women who’ve made their names in politics, culture, business and fashion, with each of them contributing an outfit. Influential women throughout history have used fashion to their advantage and how what a women wears is one of her most complex forms of self-expression. The women featured in this exhibition will include Dame Vivienne Westwood, Kirsty Wark, Joan Burnstein and Pearl Lam. With highlighted outfits including one of Zandra Rhodes’ ‘Conceptual Chic’ punk wedding dresses, one of Thatcher’s suits and a dress by Jacques Azagury that was worn by Princess Diana.
On November 1st-2nd at Abney Hall the people behind Hackney’s monthly Flea Market are the creators of the DIY Art Market, a celebration of London’s emerging independent artists and makers. With over 50 handpicked exhibitors, it’s a great way to discover unique pieces at affordable prices. Items for sale include everything from comic art and mix tapes to screen prints, paintings and origami.
Topshop have announced that they are collaborating with Beyonce on an activewear collection, the collection will be including clothing, footwear, accessories across dance, fitness and sports categories. Beyonce who spends a large majority of her life dancing, rehearsing and training, this is a unique opportunity to develop this category. We look forward to a bootylicious collection from Queen B.
