Canadian designer Dane Richards has studied textiles, hair, fashion, and pottery; an eclectic combination that is evident in his F/W 11 collection. Richards’ designs evoke a certain wildness in both material and cut, and if he listens to his mother’s advice for next season, there may be a wildness in colour as well!

BLOW: Can you tell us what it is like to live and work As a young designer in Montreal, Canada?
DR: Living in Montreal is so magical and full of amazing people to be inspired from. There’s a strong creative force at play here keeping us artists aroused. Working on the other hand is a little trying. I come from Saint John, New Brunswick originally which is the only bilingual province in Canada, so I do have a background in French. Unfortunately I lost my 2nd tongue and I like to get my feet wet in the night life and park adventuring, 2 qualities that are frowned upon in the industry here. Continue reading
